Marcasel House is Going, Going.....

This is the house on Marcasel that my husband came home to when he was born, and then raised in. And have lived in on and off in his life. It was very sad to see it coming down but nothing like when its gone. I have pics on other camara trying to get them on bear with me.

Alot of living went on in that house and to have it bulldozed to the ground is heart wrenching. I asked Glen how he felt and he said "Well if I can't live in it I am kinda of glad no one else (strangers) will be able to either." Typical male what can I say.

New Things happening with the Costellos

Well June, July, and August has brought alot of new things for the Costello Family.

New house to live in (as we had to move from the Marcasel House), a new/used car for the Costellos, and well a new haircut for Cheryl

If you want our new address just leave a comment . We have moved in with 2 elderly ladies, whom need 24/7 care. Its a lot of work, but the rewards are many.

We needed a new car as ours was beginning to break down every other month or so. Windows won't roll down, Skip fixed that for us thank heavens . The air conditioner gone. The top covering in the interior is falling. and so on and so forth. That will become the boys learning how to drive car. We bought a 2006 Ford Freestyle. Its a 6 passenger car as we still need that much room for the boys and there friends. Teenagers are not small. It has very low mileage and it had been a rental from enterprise. We love it (its not a new mustang) but we are very happy. And last but not least Nikki and family came down and she did my hair the coloring is great, I love it. But I told her 3 inches it was more like 6 at the least. But it is much lighter weight on my head and I have gotten several compliments on it. It is much easier to take care of. So my darling Nikki you will live to see another day LOL

Quote of the day

by Cheryl. "I am so agitated that I can't even stand myself" I was quite serious when I said that remark to my husband Glen. I had been snapping at people and such. So I was alittle taken aback when he started to laugh and said "That is the best quote I have ever heard you say. Well then I started laughing too. Glen can always get me laughing but I don't often get him to laugh, so that was good.

Ryan's FIRST Tennis Tournament

His Serve

Ryan entered his first tennis tournament in June. It was at the Home Depot Center. It was for Freshmen, Sophmores, and JRs. He had his first round and I (his mom) was a nervous wreck!! Everytime he made his serve or hit the ball over the net it was a sigh of relief, and everytime he didn't make his serve of hit it over the net it was cringing and nervousness. Now I have a little idea of what my parents went though especially my mom when I was in baton contest and parades. We were very proud, and we received so many complainments about how he played, one coach said it takes years to teach someone how to do a top spin like Ryan does. And when he sees someone who can do it he puts him on his team immediatly (this came from the coach of the boy he was playing againest). The other coach said Ryan has great potiental. It was a nail biting game (and I don't usually ever bite my nails) They went into overtime. They had to win by 2 points. So the score was 9-11 with Ryan winning. He lost his second round that was okay because I wasn't there to have to see him lose. I was glad he at least one his first round.

Ryan's FIRST Tennis Lesson

waiting for the coach to send ball over
His coach teaching him how to hit close to the net.

Ryan with his tennis coach, teaching him how to step into his swing.

Ryan's first tennis lesson taught him many things, one was to let go of the way he did things, and learn to listen to his coach. He has come a long way since this first lesson

MY DREAM SCRAPBOOK ROOM

...for about a month. Then we were told the house was being sold. Oh well such is life. When one door closes another is open even if the door that is open is not what you expected. The Lord has other plans for us and in this case it is very true. But it was nice well it lasted and that is what counts. By the way that is not all the stuff it is all over in the room. Believe me when I say that having moved it out there, then moving it to the place we are at now I really wished I didn't have so much stuff!!! I couldn't believe all the crapp'in stuff I have But you will hear this once and I will never admit it again!!!!!!

Cheryl's new bike

In June we decided with gas prices the way they are, and us being a little overweight that we should get some bikes. So we went to the bike shop down the street. Of course I couldn't find "THE BIKE" So mine was special ordered. It an Electra cruiser. Its retro looking and I even had to have the basket, and of course its purple with gray. The sad thing is just after that we had to move and I am pretty tied down so its not easy to get to ride. Glen did get a bike rack on the back of his truck so we can load them and take them to the bike path on the beach. Its just getting the chance to do so. Hopefully things will quiet down so we can.

Losing my favorite mother-in-law

As soon as I heard Jeannie was not expected to live. I knew I needed to go and be there and see her and to be there for my children. Glen and I drove there on Saturday and made it there in the afternoon. Nikki and I went to the hospital and I was able to see her but she didn't know I was there. How could this strong and vibrant women who family meant everything to her be dying! I was priviledged to be with the family during the hard times that followed. Jeannie and the rest of the family still always considered me part of the family after David's and my divorce.
Jeannie would boost my self-esteem by saying "David should had never divorced you" They have always been a close knit family Jeannie made sure of that. Family was everything to her.
All my others kids were important to her too. She was the only mother-in-law that I could really be close to. After Jeannie nobody could compare, they all fell short in my eyes. Not that I didn't love them, but well they weren't Jeannie.

I first meant Jeannie when I was 16 years old. I was just starting to date David. But I had workers experience and was signed up to work with Jeannie as her aid after school. She was the secretary for the Principal at Main Elementry School. Can you imagine having to work for your boyfriends mother??? Scary!!!!! I would much rather be her daughter-in-law then her employee. Not that she was mean or anything. She just expected you to do your best and demanded a good job done. We really hit if off. She was a great mother-in-law, she could be bossy and a little controlling but I am pretty mellow (or use to be ) so we just adapted. We loved to go to garage sales. We would get up early , Wayne would watch the kids and off we went. It didn't matter what it was we had a blast. We would come home with silly things or great bargins as far as we were concerned and that was the whole point of it. We also loved to go shopping. pic n save being a great favorite. She would give good advice. Her and Wayne stood by me when the divorce was going down and after. And I can tell you it wasn't just because of the kids, they loved me and wanted to help me out personally. It was a struggle trying to raise 3 little children by myself and I know I couldn't have done it without their support. When I think of Jeannie I think of Family she was the model of what a mother, grandmother, and mother-in-law should be. Even after all these months its hard to believe she is gone. I have dreams of her being alive even though in my mind I know she isn't. Jeannie was a great Lady and if I could be half as good as she was I would consider it a great accomplishment. Jeannie will always be in my heart and when its my time to leave this world I hope she is on the other side welcoming me there.

Brother and Sister Togather

I was in Arz. at thanksgiving visiting Nikki and her family. I wanted to see my brother because the last time I saw him it was in June 2007 and he had tubes everywhere and couldn't talk. We didn't think he would make it but my brother proved us wrong. So Nikki and I went to Tucson together to visit Ray. I had bought him a singing frog, he loved it. I was really expecting the worst and to my surprise he was up and looking great and talking pretty good. We had a great visit. Billy took me out on the Quad, I had a blast. I drove part way. He drove and did some narly bumps I hadn't laughed like that in a long time. As I get older I am realizing that time is precious, and that you don't always have the luxury of time. Losing my dad in May of 2005 and then almost losing Ray was quite a wake up call. Ray and I weren't really close like him and Jeanette but I still love him and "he ain't heavy he's my brother" It was a visit that I won't ever forget. I hope to see him again .

Ryan's hair before and after photos

Ryan finally wanted his haircut this year!!!!! He also wanted to look like one of those Manga Characters from Japans cartoons. So Glen took him and a photo of what he wanted and the hair stylist did a very good job. His hair is alot like his mom's very thick and course. We had him brush his long hair before he went and then took the BEFORE photo then when he came home we took a AFTER photo. Here they are. Mind you that this was done about 3 mos or more heck if I can remember. but at least I am finally getting it on the blog as planned. His hair is longer now but still looks good.
